College students please read!

Postby ShoeGaL 4 » Fri Apr 25, 2008 7:49 pm

Hey, I am a journalism major in college and for my final paper I need to write an article of my choice. So I picked one that every college student can relate to: stress. I am trying to find students from all different colleges and situations. And what better time to ask these questions with finals coming up! lol If you can take the time out to answer these questions for me it would be GREAT!! Thanks :o)

1. Just some basics: First name, Age, Grade, State, College or University (school is optional)

2. Do you live on campus? off campus apt/house? With parents?
- Do you think living in one of those three locations affects the amount of stress you feel?

3. From freshman year to where you are now, which year have you felt the most stressed? Why?

4. Do you ever feel overwhelmed with midterms? finals? important projects?

5. How do you cope with stress that you feel?
- Do you find yourself drinking or doing drugs when you feel stressed?

6. Do you feel your major affects your stress levels?

7. Does your stress or anxiety come from other things besides school?

8. What do you think a college student can do to avoid stress or deal with it better?
The grass is not greener on the other side, it's greener where you water it..

1. If you really need my name let me know. 22, Senior in College (Graduating in May), University of GA (33,000 student state school)

2. I live off campus and have lived off campus for 3 years. I was required to live on campus my first year. Having to clean, do laundry, and not lose my keys (there is no front desk to help you out) I think always adds a little extra stress to my life. I also have a townhouse that is a little too big for me to clean on my own and my roommate basically lives with her boyfriend so I'm on my own. Also, being alone, off campus where I have to drive to people is a little stressful.

3. I would have to say my Sophomore year was the most stressful because of Organic Chemistry but every semester is always a little stressful trying to get used to new classes.

4. I feel a little overwhelmed when all of my classes have tests around the same time (so, any time they coincide, finals, and midterms)

5. I do yoga for stress and meditation. I am also on Lexapro and I can't drink while taking that so I don't drink or do drugs.

6. I am a female in a male dominated major, chemistry. I am held to a higher standard and I have to bust my butt.

7. Much stress and anxiety in the past year has come from my HSV diagnosis. So, other stuff outside school is a big stressor for me.

8. College is just a naturally stressful situation. I feel like if you can find other stress management methods then that's good as long as you stay away from the drugs and alcohol.

Angela, I do have a myspace page and I never even thought to add this on as a bulletin, thanks for the idea!

And charming, I'll put in a pseudonym for your name. Thanks for filling that out for me

I'm glad you can do that!

Let us know if you have enough peeps to participate, ok?

Do you want me to move it to the young adult forum and make it a stickie for 30 days?

What do you think?

Goooooooo DAWGS!! Sic 'em! Woof woof woof woof!!! :-) I'm a fellow bulldawg. I live in Los Angeles now though. There are a lot of us out here. We have a club called the "so cal dawgs" that gets together for football games at a bar in Westwood. It's really fun seeing 50+ red and black shirts, hats, etc. in California. Almost every time I've gone, some UCLA students always come up and ask about us. We're definitely a different breed ;-)
