Omaha HELP! Herpes Support in Nebraska
Omaha
HELP is a herpes support group in Omaha, Nebraska. Did you know up to 90% of those infected are
unaware they have genital herpes? Did you know that STD screening does
not include proper
herpes testing? Omaha HELP is a non-judgmental support group
where you can obtain accurate information about Herpes.
The Omaha HELP
phone line is: (402) 630-0780 and you can receive online herpes support
by
writing OR posting on our
herpes message board. If you would like to correspond with others about herpes or any std
please visit our online
std message
board or contact an
H Pal. If you would like to speak with the Omaha
HELP Facilitator directly please call the Omaha HELP phone line and
leave your first name, a phone number where
you can be reached, and a time that is ok to call you back.
Omaha HELP meetings locally are officially cancelled! - Those
stopped a long time ago. Mostly because it was becoming tedious to try
and find babysitting each month and then whenever we did get together
nobody new came OR nobody at all in some instances. But that's ok, I
know how life can get busy.
If you call the Omaha HELP phone line I will return your call if
you leave a detailed message and a number where I may call you back. I
will also correspond with you via e-mail if you take the time to sit
down and write to me.
If you are calling me long distance please do not
expect me to call you back. Instead, contact the national herpes
hotline. It's a 1-800 number and the people that answer the phone are
very nice! That 1-800 number is at the bottom of this page.
The Omaha HELP herpes
support group will no longer meet at Brookside Church OR at any other
location here in Omaha as far as I know. I am finding that it's more beneficial to support people
locally via our Omaha HELP telephone line which is my personal mobile
phone number at (402) 630-0780.
I have some informational brochures left over from
when we were holding our herpes support group meetings. If you would
like me to put some in the mail for you,
let me know. I also have brochures about how to talk to your
partner, STDS, HPV, and more.
This web site and/or any other pages
you find in connection with the volunteer work I do on the Internet is NOT
affiliated with Brookside Church OR any of it's Employees.
I happen to go to Brookside Church and they were
kind enough to allow me to hold my support group meetings in their
building. Personally, I think more churches should get involved in doing
whatever it takes to help our community in whatever capacity they are
able to. We are called on as ambassadors of the most High to help people
in need and to provide resources so that others will know that there is
hope, compassion, and resolution no matter what the situation is. I
apologize if this page has offended you on your internet quest to find
information regarding Brookside Church. I've been going to Brookside
Church here in Omaha since the spring of 1998. I can tell you from
personal experience that it's a GREAT place to be!
The Omaha HELP, ASHA and Herpes Resource Connection!
Omaha HELP is affiliated with
the Herpes Resource Center (HRC), a program of the American
Social Health Association (ASHA). Omaha HELP exists to
provide information and support to people concerned
about
genital herpes.
All individuals who are seeking
information and support surrounding herpes concerns are welcome
to write to me OR post your question on our herpes message
board. Your confidentiality will be upheld. If you are worried about
privacy on the STD forum OR any other forum that you might bump into I
highly recommend that you choose an alias and corresponding e-mail that
nobody can connect you with. As you know the internet is not a private
place. You'd be surprised at what a Google search engine OR any other
search engine for that matter will find when doing the appropriate
search.
There
is NO FEE for the attendance or participation of a
HELP Group
Meeting. I do not charge anybody to answer questions. Any
questions that I answer whether it be through e-mail, my personal blog,
or any message board that you may find me on is based purely on what I
have read and personal experience alone. You should not substitute my
advice and/or opinions as something that a healthcare professional might
provide. Nobody is capable of diagnosing your situation over the
internet so be advised to contact a healthcare professional that you can
talk to face-to-face in order to find out what is going on with you.
The links/referrals that are non-ASHA related are provided as possible sources of information
and support. They do not reflect or represent ASHA or the HELP
Groups in any way.

Want to Start a
Support Group in your Area?
If you need help
jump starting your idea but don't want the head ache of having to put a
site together
contact me because I might
be able to help you in this department.
There is a herpes social group
somewhere here in Omaha
This social group
started several years ago when the Omaha HELP meetings first began.
I'm not sure if
this social group still meets or holds social events. If you do a
search on Omaha PALS or OPALS and even Omaha Profoundly Affected Lovable
Singles you might come across the group. I believe they
also have a yahoo support group but you might have to wait a little bit
before you have your membership approved. This particular
social group doesn't necessarily discuss the topic of herpes or stds at
their social outings so please keep that in mind if you should decide to
attend an event that is being hosted.
Here's a listing of places where
you can get STD Testing done here in Omaha
Please keep in
mind that not all STDS are included in the routine STD testing
process. If you want to be tested for herpes specifically then you will
need to ask for a herpes test. Be prepared for some healthcare providers
to tell you that they don't do herpes testing if there isn't a sore or
lesion that can be cultured. Many of these healthcare providers will not
know that there is such a thing as accurate type specific herpes blood
test. If that winds up being the case for you then be prepared to ask
that office or clinic where you may obtain an accurate herpes test via
the information that you have found on my
herpes testing page.
