Vermont H Pal
My name is Nick. In August of 2005 I was diagnosed
with HSV-2. As many of you already know, this time can be devastating. 1 week
leading up to my diagnosis and about 3 weeks after that, I could not sleep,
concentrate, or hold a thought for a minute without thinking of how horrible my
situation was. I acquired HSV within one month of starting a new relationship.
Times were difficult indeed, not only did I catch this, the other person
involved was asymptomatic. Having to explain to her, that she was the one that
gave this to me was difficult. However surprisingly she took it very well and
accepted it much better than I did. We both took the time to educate ourselves
of this condition, and have taken the necessary steps to manage it.
I am here as an H-Pal to help people understand
HSV better, and also realize that it's *not a big deal*. I have spent a lot of
time researching, and getting answers from Dr's and I am well prepared to guide
anyone through the
phases of dealing with this. Most importantly giving other people the
reassurance that this is very manageable, and that it does *not* label you in
anyway. Though the initial shock is terrifying and mentally punishing, life does
go on. And it goes on just as you left it, usually with chances to improve. I
welcome any and all questions, I am here to help... Don't be shy!! -
Nick
