Zovirax Comments and Feedback

Zovirax has been clinically proven to effectively treat herpes simplex virus. If you have tried Zovirax please share your positive or negative experiences for posting on this feedback page.    ZOVIRAX - Have you tried it?

Zovirax comes in a cream (which is totally useless) or pill form. If I remember correctly, that is what the doctor put me on when I was first diagnosed with herpes way back when. I was told to take five pills every day for ten days. How inconvenient THAT was to have to take five pills every single day. And how on earth are you supposed to split that up to make sure that it's evenly distributed throughout your body during the course of a 24 hour period of time?

When I went back to the doctor for my follow up my doctor switched me to Famvir. He felt it would be much more convenient for me to take two pills daily versus five pills daily. Eventually I wound up liking Valtrex better because it seemed to treat my outbreaks quicker. On top of that suppressive therapy with Valtrex is only 500 mg daily which winds up being a snap to do.

I honestly don't know why doctors are still prescribing zovirax ointments. I think it's so much better to keep the area clean and dry. Let the pores of your skin breath the fresh air. Not only will your outbreaks heal faster but you won't have to worry about your pores clogging. - A

About Zovirax ointment: If your doctor doesn't prescribe the wondrous ointment, Zovirax, please ask for it! If the doc refuses, DEMAND it, or go to another doctor who will prescribe it because believe me, it DOES help with HSV2 (and for those with HSV1 also). But I speak here mainly to those with genital herpes because that is what I have. I've used Zovirax (for years) every time I have an outbreak and it helps relieve the discomfort within a short time and plus, it is said to hasten healing time by at least 50%. It does work, so don't be without it. I have a friend who uses it for his "cold sores" (HSV1) and it helps there, too. If I get a prodrome (the feeling of an oncoming outbreak), I apply Zovirax right away throughout the day and often, this will help stop the outbreak. - C
